Unbecoming, Rebecca Scherm

This was a selection for our book club and as I was reading it, I was really thinking that some people in the group would think it was too dark. I was happily surprised when all ten members agreed that the book, while extremely dark, was compulsively readable. Several members mentioned that it reminded them of  The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt.

Why I liked it:

  1. Grace — she was dark and just “that” much off base, so that you wondered what she would NOT do.
  2. The descriptions of Grace’s work as a art restorer and the objects she worked on.
  3. The suspense of not knowing exactly how this book would end.
